Islamic Research Association Bombay- Request for funds

Mr. A.A.A Fayzee Eaq, Barrister at Law (Member of the Bombay Public Service Commission on  13th June, 1948 wrote to Dr. Tara Chand, Education Advisor and Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Education for a grant of  Rs. 5,000 only for Islamic Research Association, Bombay.  The communication between Mr. A. Fayzee and Dr. Tara Chand happened on further occasions as well. The proposal was put up by Humayun Kabir to Minister of Education, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad  on 23rd July, 1948 with proposed grant of Rs. 2,500/- only and it was approved by the Minister. The file then went to Ministry of Finance because it involved financial implications. Finance Ministry citing paucity of funds and Prime Ministers Office directive to curb unnecessary expenditure turned down the proposal.  Dr. Tara Chand wrote a letter of regret to Mr. A Fayzee on 11th September, 1948 informing the position and mentioned that they will again take up the issue with Ministry of Financ...
